Mr. Eric M. McIntyre is an instructor and graduate student at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Department of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering. He is currently researching passive microwave radiometry at the CET with specific focus on UAV-capable radiometers for environmental retrievals of sea surface salinity and soil moisutre. Beginning in June, 2003, he worked as a student intern for the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) in Boulder, Colorado where he assisted work in Microwave Systems Development Branch of the Physical Science Division under Dr. Albin J. Gasiewski.
At its inception in 2006, he joined the Center for Environmental Technology (CET) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at CU. As the systems administrator for the CET he designed and configured a network infrastructure to support the needs of the full time CET staff and to collaborate with CET off-campus associates. His technical interests include networking, software development, environmental remote sensing, and embedded systems.
Mr. McIntyre has taken part in several field campaigns where he supported the operation of the CET radiometers and scientific equipment he and others have developed. Last year, he participated in the Arctic Mechanisms of Interaction Between the Surface and Atmosphere Campaign 2008. (http://amisa08.blogspot.com)
Since 2004, Eric has presented his research in passive microwave remote sensing annually at the URSI National Radio Science Meeting. Since 2005 he has published annually in the IGARSS conference proceedings, and he has been cited as a co-author in other papers and publications. In 2007, his paper, "An Ultra Lightweight L-Band Digital Lobe-Differencing Correlation Radiometer for Airborne UAV SSS Mapping," placed in the top ten for the IGARSS '07 student paper competition.
